Safety and technology
- you can feel safe at Prodent

In our surgeries, patient safety is our top priority.

We pay particular attention to the cleanliness of the entire clinic, patient safety and the repeatability of instrument sterilisation and disinfection procedures.

We try to use disposable instruments wherever possible, and we sterilise medical instruments in an autoclave.

The staff of Prodent’s surgeries carry out surface disinfection and instrument sterilisation according to established internal procedures in line with current sanitary guidelines. We always use only certified agents from the best manufacturers – Ecolab Henkel, Medispept – for disinfection and sterilisation processes, meeting the highest safety standards.

After initial disinfection, all instruments are sterilised in a special thermal disinfector made by the German company Melag, which removes bacteria, viruses and fungi in a modern way. The instruments are then sorted and packed in disposable packs and placed in Melag’s autoclave. After the sterilisation cycle in the autoclave under pressure and at 134 degrees Celsius, the instruments are completely free of all biological contamination. In this way, we are confident that all medical procedures performed at Prodent are completely safe for the health of our patients.

Litemedics diode laser

It is a state-of-the-art light-beam emitting device that enables safe and effective work in many oral soft tissue procedures.

The diode laser allows for fast and precise operation .
In the field of dental surgery, compared to conventional procedures, it allows for more precise procedures, less bleeding, better coagulation, which reduces the need for sutures in many procedures and reduces postoperative oedema. We can use the diode laser in the following procedures:

  • exposure of unerupted eighth teeth,
  • uncovering of implants,
  • removal of fibroids,
  • Gum plastics – so-called gummy smile correction,
  • Frenectomy of the upper lip and tongue ,
  • treatment of inflammation after tooth extraction (so-called dry socket),

In terms of preventive treatments, the laser has a biostimulative effect on soft tissues increasing their potential for regeneration. It accelerates wound healing, abolishes post-operative hypersensitivity and alleviates pain after grinding teeth for crowns. We use the laser with therapeutic success in:

  • treatment of herpes simplex on the lip
  • treatment of irritated gums, afts
  • in endodontics for root canal disinfection
  • for the treatment of diseases of the oral mucosa (biostimulation)

In the field of periodontology, the laser allows:

  • disinfection of pathological gingival pockets
  • can perform a closed curettage procedure

In cosmetic dentistry, the diode laser is ideal for teeth whitening. The laser teeth whitening procedure lasts approximately 15 minutes – 3 series of 5 minutes each – the laser light activates the whitening gel. This procedure is completely painless for the patient, and gives the best results together with additional whitening overlay at home.

In prosthodontics, the use of lasers allows us to work faster and more efficiently, thanks to the gingival retraction effect and the inhibition of bleeding.

Leica / Carl Zeiss microscope

At Prodent, we work with microscopes from the world’s leading optics manufacturers. We use them for almost every procedure.

  • endodontic treatment under the microscope – thanks to the magnification of the imaging field by up to 40 times, the endodontist can see each canal, assess its course, can safely perform root canal treatment under the microscope, widen and fill tightly even the most curved, most difficult canals
  • Prosthetic treatment under the microscope – preparation of the tooth for porcelain veneers or zirconia crowns under the treatment microscope allows for perfect precision of preparation, perfect fitting of the future work and, as a result, a work free of discolouration and decay and comfortable use for many years.
  • Treatment of tooth decay – in restorative dentistry, the dentist can perfectly prepare the tooth tissue, remove decay and perfectly and tightly restore the tooth surface with composite.

Carl Zeiss and Leica dental microscopes are excellent dental microscopes with optimum magnification and Led illumination, as well as filters for working with photosensitive composites.

The greatest innovation is the combination of the microscope with a video camera: this allows full documentation of the treatment to be recorded and also gives the patient the opportunity to visualise the course of treatment.

3D computed tomography, Pro Max PLANMECA

All treatments at Prodent are carefully planned and preceded by X-ray diagnostics. Taking the appropriate images in the first stage of our work – orthopantomogram, computed tomography cone scan, pictures of temporomandibular joints – makes it possible to analyse them and make the appropriate diagnosis. This ensures safety, high quality of work and appropriate treatment.

In our practice, we use a digital camera from Planmeca (the world’s leading manufacturer of these devices) .Planmeca Promax 3D allows for excellent imaging of high resolution with minimal exposure. The examination can be subjected to graphic processing, which allows for very detailed diagnostics and planning of orthodontic, implantological, prosthetic and endodontic treatment. Working with Planmeca Promax 3D always ensures high patient safety, as the system is characterised by the emission of a minimum radiation dose and short exposure time, appropriate selection of these parameters allows for a high level of safety for adults and children. The digital recording of the images allows for quick work-flow in the office and during collaboration with the laboratory or when a specialist consultation is required.

Raypex 6 endometer

This is a small electrical device used during endodontic treatment. It allows the length of the root canal of a tooth to be measured with 95% precision using the measurement of the difference in resistance between the oral tissues. It is an indispensable device for precise and safe work during root canal treatment under the microscope and can be used to treat all patients, including pregnant women and children. Thanks to working with the endometer, root canal treatment at Prodent is always completed tightly and completely filling the canals with liquid gutta-percha, guaranteeing no pain or inflammation .

OccluSense by Bausch

OccluSense is a unique electronic device which quickly and painlessly records static and dynamic occlusal contacts. It is used for checking occlusion before and after prosthetic work, the image obtained during the examination is visible on the computer screen and is saved in the patient’s records. Thanks to the use of the OccluSense recorder, which digitally controls the strength of interdental contacts, the dentist can make appropriate corrections, after which the patient feels ideal comfort in chewing food.

Inspection of the prosthetic work using OccluSense guarantees that the porcelain crowns and veneers made at Prodent will serve our patients faultlessly for many years.

The Wand / Seeper One

Patient comfort is our top priority, which is why we have been using Sleeper One and The Wand computer-assisted anaesthesia as standard during treatments for many years. These devices have a special applicator that is completely unlike a syringe for anaesthesia. The built-in computer adjusts not only the dose of the applied anaesthetic, but also the speed of its administration, which completely eliminates the feeling of pain and despair. The patient does not feel any discomfort during the application of the anaesthetic; in fact, he or she does not even feel the moment the drug is administered. Patients with dentophobia, those sensitive to pain and children are delighted with the effect of computer-assisted anaesthesia.

Beyond lamp

This is a specially designed lamp for tooth whitening, using halogen light that activates the whitening gel to remove pigment particles from the tooth tubules. The light emitted is completely safe for the patient.

Prior to whitening, the teeth are cleaned of tartar and plaque, sandblasted of deeper stains. Subsequently, the initial colour of the teeth is determined and then the gums are treated with a special preparation, after which the doctor or hygienist applies the whitening gel to the tooth surface. Under the light of the lamp, the gel restores the beautiful light colour of the teeth. The teeth whitening procedure with the lamp in the office lasts from 30 to about 45 minutes, depending on the degree of teeth discolouration. After the session is completed, we apply preparations to alleviate any hypersensitivity and recommend a white diet. The stabilisation and saturation of the colour occurs after about a week. We can maintain the effect by using a home whitening overlay for a few more days.

Medit i 500 intraoral scanner

An intraoral scanner is a state-of-the-art device that takes scans of the dentition, i.e. pictures of the teeth of the gums, tongue and palate, and presents them on a computer screen as a three-dimensional image. The scanner is now an essential tool in leading dental practices. Not only does the scanner give us great diagnostic possibilities, it also reduces treatment time:

  • digital smile design
  • digital wax-up
  • planning of prosthetic work – crowns, bridges, porcelain veneers
  • mapping of the prosthetic base and prepared teeth, i.e. DIGITAL IMPRESSIONS
  • fabrication of crowns on implants
  • digital recording of short-circuit contacts

Thanks to working with the intraoral scanner, the dentist does not have to use unpleasant impression material and there is no need to insert impression spoons into the mouth, which is more comfortable for the patient than conventional prosthetics. This is extremely important for many patients, especially those with a strong vomiting reflex. Digital dentistry means a new, better quality and the ability to reproduce all stages of work from digital files.

IMES ICORE MILLING MACHINE

A milling machine from the renowned German company Imes Icore , the leading manufacturer of CNC machines in the world. The precision of the Imes Icore milling machine makes it possible to produce any type of prosthetic restoration (porcelain veneers, zirconia crowns, E-max crowns) with an accuracy of up to 5 microns.Works milled by Imes Icore are perfectly fitted to the tooth, which completely eliminates the possibility of developing caries, reproduces ideal anatomical shapes and occlusal contacts, perfect tangent contacts, thanks to which the patient feels great comfort in use (food does not enter interdental spaces and it is easier to clean teeth).

We use CADCAM technology to create porcelain veneers and other prosthetic work. In order to create a beautiful porcelain veneer, zirconia crown or implant supported restoration, the dental technician designs the restoration in the computer programme Exocad, then transfers the resulting STL file into the CAM software – Computer Aided Manufacturing – where it is converted into paths for the milling machine to follow (milling strategy), which is then sent to the machine (milling machine) and milled.

The milling machine creates porcelain veneers and zirconia crowns by cutting the structure of the work with special milling cutters in the desired material on the basis of a previously made digital design. (zirconium oxide, lithium disilicate, metal, titanium)

For the production of our beautiful restorations, such as porcelain veneers, all-ceramic crowns and implant-supported bridges, we use only first-class materials from the world’s leading manufacturer Ivoclar Vivadent of Liechtenstein. Ivoclar Vivadent zirconia is characterised by high hardness and low abrasion, its mechanical and physical parameters guarantee perfect aesthetics and great durability. In highly aesthetically pleasing work, the manual finishing of the work, i.e. the porcelain applied in layers by the dental technician to give the work its individual character, known as veneering, is indispensable.

Another material used at Prodent is E-max – lithium disilicate – a material from market leader Ivoclar Vivadent that meets the highest aesthetic standards with exceptional mechanical strength. This material is ideally suited for porcelain veneers and porcelain crowns in the anterior segment.
