Dental prosthetics - what does it do?

Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry that focuses on the effective restoration and replacement of individual teeth. Patients are very rarely aware that the long-term presence of missing teeth in the mouth can take a toll on its health, especially through a process called bone resorption (atrophy).

Prosthetics also allows for the partial restoration of a tooth that has been broken or has undergone root canal treatment. The veneers, crowns, prosthetic bridges or dentures we use are a great solution when you want to completely restore the aesthetics of your smile, along with its functionality.

Modern prosthetics makes it possible to restore lost tooth tissue in a safe, predictable and highly aesthetic manner.

Modern prosthetics at Prodent

Kondylator Gerbera

At the Prodent clinic, we focus on quality and state-of-the-art technology. During the first stage of prosthetic treatment, a thorough interview is carried out with each patient to facilitate the joint development of a treatment plan. During the first consultation, X-ray and CT scan results are also discussed, as well as the patient’s complaints and needs.

This is followed by a set of intraoral radiographs and an examination of the temporomandibular joint with a dynamic arch and the muscles of mastication for disorders in their function. We have an intraoral scanner, the Medit I 500, which enables a perfect and precise scan of the patient’s mouth. The resulting image is then sent to the laboratory and processed accordingly by a dental technician. The planning of the prosthetic work is carried out in the computer programme Exoplan, the so-called CAD- CAM technology. The use of such technology allows the ordered work to be carried out in a very short time, while at the same time being extremely precise.

Prosthetic treatment at the Prodent clinic is always holistic.

Prosthetic work performed using digital CAD-CAM technology

This can include all fixed and removable prosthetic work:

  • porcelain veneers
  • E-max all-ceramic crowns
  • zirconium oxide all-ceramic crowns,
  • Full crowns
  • all-ceramic bridges
  • full-arch implant-supported structures .
  • implant-supported zirconia bridges
  • Denture stabilised on two implants
  • Porcelain onlays and inlays
  • Combination work on latches and sliders

Why use our prosthetic services?

In our clinic we use all the latest solutions and cooperate with the best prosthetic laboratories in the Tricity. We do not accept compromises! In our clinics we perform all types of prosthetic work (removable and fixed).

In addition:

  • We guarantee perfect marginal tightness, preservation of the contact point, i.e. there is no overlap of adjacent teeth or the effect of glued teeth.
  • We choose the best matching colour in consultation with the patient and technician, and recreate the shape of the cusps and fissures. The tooth remains alive!
  • We specialise in occlusal reconstruction. The lifespan of this type of prosthetic work is very long, statistically around 20 – 25 years.

Our works

Types of prosthetic restorations

Prosthetic crowns

Porcelain prosthetic crowns (made when there is a large loss of tooth tissue due to decay or trauma, after endodontic treatment to strengthen and protect the tooth)

We distinguish:

  • Porcelain crowns on chrome-cobalt substructure
  • Porcelain crowns on zirconium oxide substructure ( best aesthetics perfectly imitating nature and reliable durability)
  • Metal-free porcelain crowns of EMPRESS type
  • Porcelain crowns on a gold alloy substructure

Bridges

Porcelain bridges (fill small dental gaps limited on both sides by the patient’s own teeth, permanently cemented, provide excellent aesthetics).

We distinguish:

  • Prosthetic bridge on a metal substructure
  • Prosthetic bridge on a gold alloy substructure
  • Prosthetic bridge on zirconium oxide substructure

Veneers

Porcelain veneer – is a very thin porcelain overlay that corrects the shape of the tooth and improves its color. The veneer can be from 0.3 to 0.7 mm thick. It is cemented to the tooth enamel with special adhesives , which guarantee many years of survival.

Porcelain veneers are the best solution in the situation:

  • Changes in the unsightly color of teeth
  • Correction of the shape of teeth
  • Closing diastemas, interdental gaps
  • Elimination of discoloration or spots on enamel
  • Lengthening of teeth that are too short, worn down
  • Complementing the effect of orthodontic treatment – closure of open bite
  • Discoloration occurring in enamel diseases
  • Uneven teeth as an alternative to orthodontic treatment

Why invest in veneers at Prodent?

The doctor who specializes in making these ultra-thin porcelain overlays must have a lot of experience and knowledge . The first step is always a conversation with the patient about his aesthetic expectations and needs, and often his dreams .Then, after an examination of the condition of the teeth, the specialist takes a set of intraoral and portrait photos for an aesthetic analysis of the face. The next step is to digitally plan the future smile and perform a so-called motivational wax-up.

At the next visit, the patient can try on the prototype and see how his new teeth will look after the porcelain veneers are made. The doctor can then make any shape corrections and, after the patient’s approval, begin preparation.

No last visit to our clinic the Patient will receive a set of beautiful E-max porcelain veneers and will be able to enjoy a beautiful smile forever.

Crown and root inlays

Used in teeth after root canal treatment, such as broken teeth.

We distinguish:

  • Metal crown-root inlays
  • Zirconium oxide crown-root inlays
  • Fiberglass crown-root inlays

Crown, porcelain and composite inlays

A tooth tissue restoration used for extensive cavities in living and dead teeth, replacing traditional composite fillings, performed in a dental laboratory by a technician. They have a durability several times that of conventional fillings and excellent aesthetics.

Inlay, Onlay, Overlay

Prosthetic solution used in the treatment of large defects of tooth tissue, allowing to make an accurate reconstruction of its shape, taking into account the anatomy – cusps, fissures and contact points. In this way, the tooth regains full masticatory function, ideal anatomy and aesthetics, and is protected for years.

Onlays are practically invisible, as they imitate your own tooth in color and shape, their application is completely painless, the inlays are glued into a properly prepared tooth crown.

Standard skeletal dentures

They rest on the patient’s own teeth with the help of metal brackets and thorns (hooks).

Skeletal dentures

Removable dentures replace larger missing teeth, physiologically transfer masticatory force at the same time, without destroying the alveolar bone. They are an alternative to implant treatment for missing back teeth.

Skeletal dentures on sliders/clasps

This type of restoration is characterized by very good retention in the mouth, with no visible clasps (hooks), providing high aesthetics. Skeletal dentures are made in combination with porcelain crowns.
