Endodontics—also known as root canal treatment—involves removing the pulp (blood vessels, nerves) from the chamber and root canals, enlarging them using special rotary instruments (Protaper, M-two, Reciproc), and filling them with liquid gutta-percha (BeeFill, Thermafile). All these procedures are performed under magnification (Leica, Zeiss surgical microscope), under the control of PLANMECA radiovisiography, which enables the dentist to locate the orifices of all root canals and ensures success in endodontics. To measure canal length, we use an endometer (Rypex). To protect the patient from aspirating into the respiratory tract or swallowing a canal instrument, a rubber dam is placed on the treated tooth. At our clinic, it is possible to remove a broken instrument left in the canal—under a microscope using special ultrasonic tips.
